Grow With The Flow in the New Forest - Breaks for Garden Lovers
A New Forest hotel break doesn't get much more joyful than wandering through a country house garden in full summer bloom, its floral scents luring you to explore? Our New Forest hotel is cared for most fervently by our Head Gardener Matt, who wants nothing more than our guests to fall in love with this beautiful space during their weekend break away.
Matt’s ethos is always nature first, with sustainable practices at the fore; this is reflected in the abundance of life found in the garden - a sanctuary for the bees, birds and butterflies. Garden-lovers, horticulturists and novices will all love wandering and exploring this beautiful space that’s been devotedly nurtured as organically and naturally as possible.
For those seeking nothing more than to slow down and spend time together in nature, we’d like to invite you to explore the Grow with the Flow hotel break. Thoughtfully designed for those who wish to immerse themselves in the restorative outdoors and potter around the historic gardens.
This unique break, centred around the joy of nature, was designed to inspire. From the garden-inspired cocktail on your arrival and the Montagu garden seeds to take home, to the watercolour set ready for unhurried afternoons. Every detail, thoughtfully chosen, even the delightful Bellord and Brown picnic hamper that invites adventure.
Gentle days and green spaces beyond our garden
If there was ever a time to slow down and reconnect with the outdoors it’s during your Grow with the Flow break. With scenic walks from our New Forest hotel doorstep, spend mornings walking through woodland and along tranquil riversides, afternoons drinking tea in the garden and evenings on the terrace sipping wine.
When you wish to explore, you needn’t venture far, your weekend break offers discounted bookings and tickets to local green spaces and attractions such as Exbury Gardens and the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.
Spend the day wandering the 200 acres of Exbury Gardens, admiring their award-winning azaleas and rhododendrons, past peaceful ponds and along blossoming trails.
Your admission ticket to The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, also includes access to the beautiful Palace House and Gardens, Beaulieu Abbey, monorail and more. Wander the picturesque gardens before exploring the Victorian country house that’s been home to the Montagu family since 1538.
A local favourite walk:
Beaulieu to Buckler’s Hard | 4.5 miles | Out-and-back
Following a section of the Solent Way, this walk leads you to the beautiful 18th century shipbuilding village of Buckler’s Hard. From our picturesque village the trail takes you over wild meadow, through ancient forest, over boardwalks and along the banks of the Beaulieu River.
Homegrown seasonal dining
Matt’s philosophy for the kitchen garden is underpinned by the mantra, ‘pollinators first, plates second'. With this in mind, he allows nature to lead the way, choosing fast-growing fresh herbs, edible flowers and vegetables - always led by the seasons.
As you wander around the garden, let the aroma of our homegrown herbs stir your appetite. Perhaps you’ll stop in at our country pub, Monty’s Inn, for a spot of lunch. Expect nothing less than hearty heritage cooking and a relaxed pub atmosphere to unwind and enjoy the flavours of the forest.
Don’t leave without booking a table in our wood-panelled Terrace Restaurant for dishes and British flavours guided by the seasons, created from the finest local produce wherever possible and inspired by the forest.
Mindful moments
Wherever your nature-inspired hotel break takes you, we encourage you to keep things slow in order to capture the precious mindful moments that can be easily missed.
Spend time during your weekend away simply sitting in the garden; breathing in the fresh forest air, listening to the birdsong and watching the butterflies dance in the breeze. Brush past the swaying grasses, let the fragrance of the sweet peas lift you and the watch quietly as the birds tend to their nests.
If the Grow with the Flow break is the inspiring escape, we think it is, you will leave feeling excited for the months ahead and eager to sow your Montagu garden seeds.
We only hope that you will find the same sense of calm and tranquillity discovered here, in your own unique green space, whatever that may look like for you.
