Kings Hat
Distance: 5km
If you follow the river it can get very boggy, so wellies will be required. A very picturesque walk, you’ll see the change in seasons well here through the wooded tall tree areas, heather and bracken. There are two bridges and a tranquil stream running throughout. This walk is a lab and spaniel heaven as they get to swim through the river and have lots to sniff in the woods. I would recommend coming in spring/summer as the river can often burst in autumn/winter.
Dibden
Distance: 5km
There are various routes you can take from the main car park with stunning views looking down over the body of water here. The dogs love to take a splash and run free in the open heath. Wellies or walking boots for the autumn winter are best and trainers are fine for spring/summer. I would recommend coming here in spring, autumn and winter as it’s very open, so on a hot day there is little shade.
Beaulieu to Bucklers Hard
Distance: 5 miles
This out and back route starts in the heart of Beaulieu, the trial takes you through woodland and marshes, and will follow the Beaulieu river until you arrive at the boat yard at Bucklers Hard. Wear your wellies or boots in the autumn/winter and trainers in spring/summer.
Whitefield Moore
Distance: Yellow route 1.6km | Red route 2.4km
Whitefield Moor is a stunning walk, and there are two routes you can take: the yellow is 1.6km and the red is 2.4km. On the short route, you will follow along a stream throughout, coming to a big open green where you will be often be greeted by some new forest ponies! As with most walks, I recommend wearing wellies or boots in the winter and trainers in the summer. Dogs will love the variety of forest, stream and open green.
Andrew’s Mare
Distance: 5km
This is a very open walk with panoramic views across the forest. There is a huge pond in the middle for the dogs to have a splash. Wear your wellies or boots in the autumn/winter and trainers in the summer. The dogs will love to have a good swim in the pond.
After all that walking you'll both deserve a rest, and where is better than our dog friendly New Forest pub Monty's, where dogs can enjoy the A la bark menu and parents can choose from delicious heritage cooking and classic English favourites.
Make sure to follow the New Forest dog walking guide for safety around cattle and ground nesting birds during the spring and summer and closures of some car parks.
