Corporate Social Responsibility

Our Mission: To champion the wellbeing of our team; to create a positive impact in our local communities; and to protect the natural environment.

The Montagu Arms Hotel is part of Greenclose Hotels Ltd and we have always been led by family values. Our group corporate social responsibility strategy is based in ensuring that our employees, environment, and local community are supported and cared for. Responsible behaviour is at the heart of our business and drives our vision for the future.

As an independent hotel and spa group with locations across the UK in areas of natural beauty we understand the importance of protecting the environment and promoting responsible tourism.

In an ever globalising marketplace it is important to recognise the impact we have at a local and global level. To ensure that we are accountable and contributing towards a positive and responsible future we are aligning to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, specifically – Goal 3 Good Health and Wellbeing; Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth; Goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production; Goal 15 Life on Land. These Goals have been created to bring companies, individuals, charities and governments together to solve the world’s most pressing social, economic and environmental issues.

Community

Promoting our local economy to ensure a thriving community and supporting those in need.

Working with our local community is essential for a healthy and thriving business. To support local people and the local economy we:

  • Use our expertise to work with local schools and colleges
  • Support local charities where we can have the greatest impact and that matter to our team
  • Whenever possible, purchase from our local communities to support local business
  • Work with organisations such as Hampshire Fare to champion locally sourced produce
  • Work with groups and guests to educate on the sensitive environments of our hotels
  • Donate stays across our hotels to Room to Reward, a scheme that recognises the unsung heroes of our communities

Ethical Food Policy

The team at The Montagu Arms Hotel believe that free-range organic produce is not just better, because of its purity and freedom from additives but because it tastes a lot better too.

We also believe it is important to know where our produce comes from to help maintain the sustainability of local produce and ensure quality.

The Montagu Arms Hotel is dedicated to using seasonal, free-range ingredients sourced from carefully selected local suppliers and The Montagu Arm's very own Kitchen garden.

Some of the Hampshire food suppliers that we use include Claytons Eggs, Premier Fish, Country Fare and Owtons Butchers.  We also stock a wide range of Hampshire Gins at the Library bar including Wyrd Gin, Mermaid Gin, HMS Gin, Gorilla Gin, Twisted Nose Gin and 820 Gin.

Our Charity Partner

Supporting Hospitality Action as our charity partner; a charity that plays a huge role in our industry, offering vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK in times of hardship.

The charity has helped over 200,000 hospitality industry workers get back on their feet after struggles with anything from physical illness to financial difficulty. They are also strong sustainability advocates in rural communities throughout the world. We would like to play a part in their impactful work by supporting the charity in a number of ways:

  • Invisible chips at Monty's and the hotel bar – buying a portion of our “invisible chips” donates £1 to Hospitality Action
  • A £1 donation is added to every room bill and donated straight to Hospitality Action
  • Our Managing Director James Hiley-Jones attended the Back to the Floor event again this year, in recognition of all the hard work hospitality teams carry out daily. Over 80 hotel industry icons acted as waiters and sommeliers in recognition of their tremendous teams. Tickets were sold, an auction took place, and industry icons collected tips, with all proceeds going to Hospitality Action.

So far we have raised £2.7k
