How To Have A Relaxing Family Retreat In The Country
We would like to invite you to spend a relaxing family break in the New Forest and enjoy some essential time for two, because family comes first, but so should you.
This is your guide on ‘How to Have a Relaxing Family Retreat in The Country’ and enjoy a guilt-free a date night or two to reconnect, relax and unwind – together.
Consider a family break that encompasses a bit of everything; one that helps to detoxify you all from the digital world, try new activities or explore new places with the kids, and one that gives you - the parents - a chance to spend time together; be it sharing wine over dinner, relaxing at the spa or enjoying cocktails in the bar. This is a family friendly break that welcomes a balance that rarely exists these days… But how?
Start each day with a relaxing family breakfast; there is always something for everyone, whether you’re serial cereal-eaters, fans of the full English or coffee and pastry people.
Once everyone is fuelled up and energised for the day, there are plenty of days out and fun things to do with kids in the New Forest, from walking around the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary and cycling our winding forest trails, to planning picnics, visiting Peppa Pig World, kayaking along the Beaulieu River or exploring Exbury Gardens.
You can head straight out from our New Forest hotel to explore the local area of Beaulieu. Walk and roam, spot our beautiful New Forest ponies and donkeys, wander through the village, or take the wonderful 2-mile walk to Buckler’s Hard Maritime Museum, an 18th century shipbuilding village on the banks of the tranquil Beaulieu River.
Our village is also home to the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, an award-winning family-friendly visitor attraction in the heart of our New Forest National Park. You needn’t be a motor-enthusiast to enjoy its wonderful collections of motoring memorabilia and exhibits that combine history, entertainment and fine collections, including vehicles from the big screen like James Bond’s Jaguar XKR from Die Another Day and the Flying Ford Anglia in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
A day out cycling in the New Forest is also a wonderful activity to do as a family; hire bikes nearby and head out on traffic-free, gravel paths. With more than 100-miles of cycle routes, it’s safe and fun for all the family.
But what about time for two?
We have just the thing for date night during your family break. When it’s time for little ones to say goodnight, book the babysitting services of Freedom Childcare, our trusted partner, they are there to care for your children when you want to make time for two.
Book a romantic dinner at The Terrace without a worry; when was the last time you shared a bottle of wine, reminisced, reconnected and simply relaxed. Book a babysitter and know that your children are safe and sound. Or eat as a family and then book Freedom Childcare to give you a few hours together; enjoy a peaceful stroll and then head to Monty’s Inn for a drink or our hotel lounge where you can sip your favourite cocktail and celebrate time for two.
For ultimate relaxation, let the kids wind down with Freedom Childcare and head to our sister hotel, just 6 miles away, where you can visit the 5-star Thai spa, SenSpa, for deeply relaxing experiences. An Evening Indulgence, an Afternoon Delight or a Sun-Up Morning half day spa experience … Spend a few blissful hours soaking tired muscles and easing tension in the Hydrotherapy Suite, book a massage, manicure or body scrub and spend quality time simply relaxing together.
Family time is important but time together as a couple can also be essential. Use your family break away in the New Forest to disconnect from devices and reconnect as a family, but also with your partner. It’s OK to want to spend a few hours together and to dream of uninterrupted dinner date nights. Knowing that you have fun activities planned as a family, a romantic evening booked in and people to care for your children will help you relax, and it might just help to restore balance, creating a most relaxing retreat in the country for everyone.
